Anyone who has spent time in the woods is likely familiar with the adage, "If you're lost, stay put." When we stop restlessly wandering for a moment, we allow our minds and bodies to become still and intimate with our surroundings and begin to notice and experience more profoundly what's happening around and inside of us.
Literally and figuratively we begin to "come to our senses" and begin to truly experience our world while its actually happening, like it really matters. These aren't our ideas, but rather the fabric of an ancient practice called mindfulness, a special way of paying attention to our present moments in an awakened, engaged and nonjudgmental way.

We started True North Treks because we share a common belief, that learning or remembering how to “stay put” like this, within the spacious holding environment of nature, can serve as a powerful compass for young adult cancer survivors to find or forge a new pathway beyond their dis-ease, beyond their treatment, and learn new ways to make sense of it all.
